Lekki Scrabble Classics: Anikoh calls for more corporate backing

The 3rd edition of the Lekki Scrabble Classics will be riding on the support of brands as preparations for arguably the best organised championship by a club in Nigeria has taken a step higher.

Riding on the successes recorded from the previous editions, the tournament has developed a goodwill which has attracted some support from corporate bodies for the third edition.

Engineering and construction firm in the oil and gas sector, Loense International will be one the pillars propping up the tournament. The marine logistics company has been one of the faithful bodies backing scrabble events.

Apparel firm Frontpage Couture has been a constant in giving presence to the game.

Known for quality designs, FPC has been bold in building the game by lending its support this time again at the Classics.

Midas Farms will also be lending a firm base to the third Lekki Scrabble Classics.

Others are Mindgames Incorporated which has grown the game with innovative tournaments around the world and Elcrest E & P a player in the oil and gas sector.

President of Lekki Scrabble Club Samuel Anikoh  stated that the essence of putting all support for the championship is to make it attractive as a platform for socialization for firms to find the sport worthy of their interest.

He however, called for more sponsorship as they plan to make the LSC a standout tournament with a global appeal.

He said, “Although there is significant effort, innovation and investment by some players of the game to further socialise and make the game more attractive, there is still huge room for improvement on the level of sponsorship obtainable from corporate organisations. While we recognize the efforts of organisations like Loense International Ltd, Boaz Integrated & Allied Services, Frontpage Couture, Midas Farms, Mindgames Incorporated and Elcrest E & P, to name a few, for their contributions so far, we call on other corporate bodies to invest in this worthy game that has significant benefits in improving language skills, enhancing critical thinking, and promoting social bonding” he said.

The Lekki Scrabble Classics is scheduled to hold September 28 and 29 this year.
