Lagos remains committed to youth empowerment through sports – Orimoloye

The Senior Special Assistant on Sports to the Lagos State Governor, Hon. Damilare Orimoloye, has expressed his belief and optimism on the avowed potentials of Lagos State and Nigeria. He spoke with journalists on the special occasion of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day celebration.

He said, “We celebrate not only the rich heritage of our great nation, but also the Lagos State Government’s commitment to sports development. The Lagos State Government led by His Excellency, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, is committed to the development and of course, optimal performances by our athletes.”

The resourceful sports administrator recalled happily the outstanding performance of Team Lagos at the recently concluded 8th National Youth Games, as well as,  preparations for the upcoming National Sports Festival.

“Under the visionary leadership of Governor Sanwo-Olu, we are investing in sports infrastructure with plans to commission at least three new stadiums across Lagos. These facilities will serve as hubs for talent development and community engagement and of course, creating an enabling environment for our youth to thrive.

“We are also making significant strides in promoting inclusivity by ensuring equal opportunities for girls and women in sports. Through initiatives like Street Boxing and Keep Fit Lagos, we are fostering healthy lifestyles, building unity at the grassroots level, and creating job opportunities.”

Damilare commended Sanwo-Olu for his unwavering support in making sports a cornerstone of youth development in Lagos.

“Together, we are shaping a brighter future for our youth and setting new standards in sports development,” he said.
