The newly appointed National Sports Commission (NSC) Chairman Shehu Dikko met with Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, and former Minister of Sports Development, John Enoh, on Friday in Abuja in a major take-off step,
The meeting is a part of early groundwork to establish an upgraded framework to transform Nigeria’s sports landscape into a sustainable sports economy.
Dikko is emphasizing the importance of collective support and encouraging all stakeholders to rally behind the NSC’s mandate. He is confident that the new direction will boost professionalism, create economic opportunities for all, and enhance sports infrastructure and development across the country.
The new inclusive direction needs stakeholders to contribute to this pivotal shift, as Dikko and his team work to redefine Nigerian sports. Sports in Nigeria has not been explored as a business but rather as a recreational. A united front of all actors in the sector is seen as essential to achieving the ambitious goals of the NSC and taking Nigerian sports to new heights.
