Golden Eaglets captain, Simon Cletus will lead his club, Mavlon FC against Villarreal in a friendly game on Thursday, reports Extrasportsnigeria.
Mavlon players are on a training tour of Spain. Players and officials of the club told our correspondent that they have been exposed to world-class football education under Juan Manuel Pavon Dominquez, a renowned Spanish youth coach and Juan Maria Cruz Arias, the highly experienced goalkeeper coach from the Manchester City group.
The modest Nigerian club defeated Villaviciosa 2-0 in a friendly game played last week and it is expected that the game against Villarreal will be tougher judging by the pedigree of the club.
Letus said, “It is a great privilege for us (Mavlon FC) to be in Europe on a training tour and I sincerely thank the management of club. Our game against Villarreal will surely be tough, indeed tougher than the one against Villaviciosa, I believe.
“Villarreal is a very strong club, with rich football tradition and philosophy. So, we know that the game will not be easy, but we will give our best on the pitch to get a favourable result.”
He noted that despite the change of weather in Europe, he and his teammates have adapted strongly to the atmosphere and he hopes that Mavlon will give a good account of themselves.
