Ikorodu City rose superbly on Sunday to end Rivers United’s unbeaten run with a 2-0 home win in a match played in Lagos. In Kano, Super Eagles duo of Rabiu Ali and Ahmed Musa scored as Kano Pillars came back from behind to beat Plateau United 2-1.
It was Musa who won the match scoring in the second minute of added on time for his fourth goal of the season.
At the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre in Lagos, Ikorodu scored their opening goal through Ayomide Cole who was also scoring his first goal of the season after he tapped in on 48th minute. The league debutants doubled their lead in the 53rd minute when Ajeyigbe Toyeeb laid a good pass for Rivio Ayemwenre to hit home.
Struggling Bendel Insurance defeated Sunshine Stars 2-1 away from home while in Ikenne, Michael Ibe’s goal helped Remo Stars win Lobi Stars.
Emmanuel Amunike’s Heartland got out of the mud after they beat Abia Warriors 2-0 while playing as guests at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
Godwin Obaje scored twice for defending champions Rangers to make it 2-0 against Nasarawa United.
