Africa’s biggest women’s basketball team, D’Tigress of Nigeria, have congratulated the newly crowned Miss Universe Africa and Oceanic Zones, Miss Chidimma Adetshina. The Nigerian women’s national basketballers sent a congratulatory message to the beauty queen after she finished as the 1st runner-up to Miss Denmark who got the world title.
The Nigerian team sent the message through their verified X handle (Twitter) @DtigressNG and it reads, “You may not have won the crown today but you certainly won our hearts. Congratulations Chichi!
“Well done for making Nigeria proud on the global stage.”
Miss Adetshina has since thanked Nigerians and her fans across the world for their support through the season.
Part of her package as first runner up includes $100,000 cash, a one-year lease on a luxury apartment in New York and a $3m diamond-encrusted crown.
Chidimma suffered serious bullying and attack from some South Africans where she actually started her journey into the world event. The Nigerian/South African was forced to withdraw from the Miss South Africa pageant and crossed over to Nigeria where she eventually won. Even after she won in Nigeria some South Africans did not let go but wrote a petition to have her withdrawn from the world finals in Mexico.
She was alleged to have benefitted from a fraudulent registration at birth in South Africa. No evidence of the identity of the stolen document has been released by the Home Office.
