Kennedy Boboye returns to Akwa United

Akwa United Football Club has announced a mid-season managerial contract with coach Kennedy Boboye.

The Club announced on Monday, January 6th that it had signed the deal with coach Boboye in Uyo on the same day and the coach is expected to begin work later this week.

Akwa United Chairman Paul Bassey said, “Boboye’s return to the team is necessary and the decision to re-assign the coach was because of his track records and previous achievements with the club.”

Boboye joined the team during the 2019/20 NPFL season and won the league title with the club in the following season. It became his second league title as a coach after the first with Plateau United in 2017.

He was the coach of the team as the club made its CAF Champions League debut in 2021 but resigned and after a run of poor results in 2022.
