SEPLAT Energies, one of the leading indigenous oil companies in Nigeria has contributed N2million to the Sports Performance Reward Fund (SPRF) which was set up by very eminent Nigerians. The work plan is to raise funds that will be warehoused to reward generations of Nigeria’s sporting youth who excel in global competitions like the Olympics, Commonwealth, All Africa Games and selected major world Championships.
A team of SEPLAT Officials had earlier hosted representatives of the SPRF where they pledged to partner and support what they described as “a very laudable project that will motivate Nigerian youth to pay some more serious attention to sports as a path to fame and fortune.”
The SPRF which has Engr Ahmadu Musa Kida, former Deputy Managing Director of Total Energies Nigeria as President, plans to reward Olympic Gold with N10 million, Silver N7.5million and Bronze N5million. Commonwealth Gold medalists will get N5million, Silver N3million and Bronze N2million. Gold medal winners at the All-Africa Games and selected major World Championships will get N3 million, Silver will attract N2 million while Bronze medal winners will be rewarded with a million naira.
The statement from the SPRF said the Fund will soon unveil a project that seeks to recruit 100, 000 partners that will support the SPRF to raise the funds required to reward and motivate generations of Nigeria’s youth to global sporting excellence.
