The Super Eagles will have their first full training in their Kigali, Rwanda camp by Wednesday evening, running at full strength after Alhassan Yusuf linked up with the squad early Wednesday.
The Nigerians continue preparing for their must-win 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe four days later, Extrasportnigeria.com reports.
Sadiq Umar arrived on Tuesday in time for the team’s first training session under new coach Éric Chelle, while Yusuf became the last player to arrive in camp – joining from the United States.
Papa Daniel Mustapha, Kayode Bankole (from Nigeria), Amas Obasogie, Tolu Arokodare, Victor Osimhen, and Bruno Onyemaechi were the first set of players in Kigali on Sunday and Monday morning. The team’s physical trainer worked with them in a gym session on Monday evening. More players would then arrive in Kigali on Monday evening and Tuesday including team captain William Ekong, Wilfred Ndidi, Calvin Bassey, Ademola Lookman, and Alex Iwobi.
The Eagles could not win any of their last four games and sit in fifth place with just three points. Lesotho is ahead of Nigeria in fourth place while the Zimbabweans are in the sixth position.
Nigeria must therefore win the two games this period to remain in the World Cup qualifying race.
Nigeria will face the group leaders Rwanda in Kigali on the 21st, Friday before returning to host Zimbabwe in Uyo on Tuesday, the 25th of March.
