Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Grassroots Sports, Prince Anthony Adeboye has congratulated the new Alaafin of Oyo whose coronation ceremony was held last week.
Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, Elewu Etu 1 was last Saturday sworn into traditional office as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo – a ceremony which Adeboye graced in person.
Adeboye while congratulating the new oba prayed for his reign to be peaceful and one that would make sports flourish in the ancient kingdom and the entire country.
“I congratulate my brother the new Oba of the ancient Oyo Kingdom. I pray for peace under his reign. I pray that God will bestow him with wisdom to rule his people and I also pray that sports will flourish while he is on the throne,” Adeboye stated.
Adeboye charged the new Oba to also support sports as the late Oba Adeyemi did.
It would be noted that late Oba Adeyemi was a great boxing lover who was a patron of Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C).
