Remo Stars beat Shooting, set for first-ever NPFL title

Remo Stars on Easter Sunday defeated hosts Shooting Stars 1-0 to stay on course for their first-ever NPFL trophy. The victory keeps the Ikene-based teams seven points clear of Rivers United.

Rivers also won their home game 1-0 at home against Sunshine Stars.

In the star match of the Easter weekend, Alex Oyowah scored the match winner for Remo Stars after 30 minutes of play. Remo Stars now have 65 points from 34 matches as the league plays through the final stretch.

Video clips from Maiduguri shows Ikorodu City guarded by well armed security team for the match but they were not distracted as they held hosts El Kanemi Warriors to a 1-1 draw. They are now at the third spot.

Plateau United made relegation escape work tougher for Akwa United after they beat them 1-0 in Jos.

Similarly, Heartland stayed in the relegation zone after Kwara United held them to a goalless draw at home in Owerri.

Bendel Insurance could have done better than moving up to fifth in the table as they were held to a 1-1 draw by guests Nasarawa United and Niger Tornadoes were also held to a 1-1 draw by Bayelsa United.
