Carlo Ancelloti will resume work as the Brazilian national team coach on May 26. The Italian is the first foreign coach of Brazil since 1965.
The Samba boys have struggled since winning the 2002 World Cup and Ancelloti is seen as the man to fix the problem as quickly as possible.
Having lost to European nations in 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018 and Qatar 2022, the FA believes it is the right time to bring a man who understands European football.
The former AC Milan midfielder is the only man to have won league titles in the five European major leagues; France, Germany, Italy, Spain and England.
He is leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season.
Ancelloti is no stranger to Brazilians having worked with Endrick, Rodrygo, Militao, Vinicious jnr and Casemiro at Real Madrid.
He is leaving a more demanding job at Real Madrid to begin a difficult life as Brazil national team coach.
This the first time the Italian is handling a national team.
