Ferscoat schools, Ipaja, Lagos have won the maiden Inter-Schools Sports Festival for private schools in the zone which was concluded today, Friday. May 16, 2025.
They top the table with 5 gold, 3silver and 3 bronze medals. Nightingale School finished second with 4 gold, 5silver and 2 bronze medals.
Third Position went to Roshallom Schools with 4 gold, 1silver and 5 silver medals.
Cedar College beat Ferscoat 6-5 through penalty shootout in the third-place match after full time ended 1-1.
Nightingale defeated goal-shy Cerulean Academy 1-0 in the football final.
Best overall athlete boys went to David Iredia of Nightingale School while Sophia Balogun of Ferscoat emerged as best overall in the girls category.
Tug of War gold medal was won by Ferscoat who defeated Cedar in a keenly contested final. Bronze went to Roshallom Schools.
The 4×100 mixed relay gold was won by Nightingale. Ferscoat came second while Roshallom settled for third. Roshallom dominated the sack race event winning gold in the boys and girls category.
Girls 200 metres gold went to Roshallom Schools through Kadiri Blessing. Faith Adetiba and Divine Chuks-Abengowe, both of Ferscoat, finished second and third respectively.
The 200 male gold medal went to David Iredia of Nightingale ahead of somto Ibeakawma of Cedar College and David Chuks-Abenkowe of Ferscoat.
Aremu Ademola of Cerulean Academy was voted the Most Valuable Player. Richard Olabowale of Cerulean Academy and Ige Emmanuel both with 3 goals each share the highest goal scorer award.
Pamilerin Ogegbo was voted Best Goalkeeper of the tournament.
All the individual awards were sponsored by Prostar Sports, a division of Zenith Sports.
Event was supported by Zenith Sports, Kellogg’s, Milky Biscuits and Nutzy Peanuts.
In his Welcome address, the Director of Studies of Ferscoat Schools, Pastor Felix Opata said the competition has provided healthy rivalry among schools.
He blamed Nigeria dwindling fortunes in international sports due to lack of school sports .Opata then assured the participants that the event would be a yearly event with more schools expected at the second edition in 2026.
The Ferscoat Inter-Schools Sports is part of the schools’ Corporate Social Responsibility.
