The Sports Coaches Association of Nigeria (SCAN) an umbrella body of Nigerian coaches whose aim is geared towards providing better welfare and training for its members will be using the opportunity provided by the 22nd National Sports Festival to hold its physical meeting with members nationwide.
The meeting will hold on Sunday 18th May at the Babcock University Games Village by 11am and will afford all its members the opportunity to attend the Opening Ceremony later in the day at the Moshood Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta.
The meeting being a physical one will give the members the opportunity to know its members from around the country and some that are coming from abroad too.
High on the Agenda for the meeting will be coaches welfare which has been a critical aspect burdening the association members.
“We will be educating ourselves on what it entails to have a valid contractual agreement and how best to utilize our expertise,” an official of the body said.
The Nigerian coaches membership cuts across all sports that are recognized by the National Sports Commission, the Nigerian Olympics Committee and are also duly incorporated as an entity. Its membership is in the thousands. Members will also gain useful advice on coaching experiences at major sporting events which will help build up the much needed confidence to face competitions and win laurels for their respective states and our nation Nigeria.
“All coaches are encouraged to attend and be useful tap in our numerous training and managerial knowledge available from its professional colleagues.”
