Kwara United, Abakaliki FC make grand entry into President’s Federation Cup final

Kwara United and Abakaliki FC have made history by qualifying for their first-ever FA Cup final.

The Kwara boys defeated Rangers – a six times winners of the FA Cup – in the semi-final match played at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Arena  in Lagos on Wednesday 1-0.

Giant-killers in the Nigeria National League, Abakaliki FC defeated Ikorodu City 5-4 via penalty shootout to land in the final game of the 2025 President Federation Cup. This game was played in Bwari, Abuja.

In Lagos, a lone goal from Wasiu Alalade in the 50th minute secured a historic win, setting the stage for a thrilling final against Abakaliki of Ebonyi.

In Abuja, Abakaliki defeated Ikorodu City 5-4 on penalties after it ended goalless in regulation time.

Earlier in the series, Abakaliki had beaten Yobe Desert Stars in the Round of 64, and also overcame Katsina United, former African champions Enyimba FC and Nasarawa United in subsequent rounds.
