Alcaraz beats Sinner to retain French Open title

Carlos Alcaraz pulled off the comeback of all comebacks to win the longest French Open final in history and retain his title in the craziest of circumstances. The stretched final ended 4-6 6-7 6-4 7-6 7-6 for Alcaraz.

It was a contest of epic proportions which will live long in the memory of tennis fans around the world. At one point, it looked like Jannik Sinner was going to wrap it up in straight sets but Alcaraz was never going to lie down that easily.

He halved the deficit in set three before saving a trio of match points in the fourth set, forcing his Italian rival onto the back foot. It was at that point the momentum shifted in favour of the Spaniard, who did the unthinkable to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. His final act was to prevail in a fifth-set tiebreak to secure a historic 4-6 6-7 6-4 7-6 7-6 triumph.
