Nigeria’s ex-internationals Kanu Nwankwo and Victor Ikpeba were with the Nigeria National League Chairman George Aluo and the Delta State Sports Commission Chairman Onos Oboroweri as the fireworks began at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba for the NNL Super 8 playoffs by last weekend.

The former Super Eagles stars and more of their former colleagues and celebrities are expected in town as the Super 8 enters the last stretch on Thursday with four matches in Asaba and Ozoro. The Ozoro centre has replaced the Austin Jay Jay Okocha Stadium, Ogwashi-Uku earlier advertised for the playoffs due complaints over the turf.

Tuesday and Wednesday were match-free days for these eight teams fighting for spots in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) from next season.

The Conference A game between Barau FC and Doma and, the Conference B clash between Osun United and Kun Khalifa FC on Thursday will be played at the Delta State University of Science and Technology Stadium, Ozoro.

The Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba remains the venue for the Wikki Tourists versus Yobe Stars FC as well as the Warri Wolves game against Crown FC.

The matches will now kickoff at 10am and 1pm respectively instead of the 9am announced earlier.
