AfroBasket: D’Tigers leave for Angola

Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, left Abuja for Luanda, Angola Saturday evening ahead of the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket. The Championship will tip-off on August 12 and end on the 24th.

The players that left aboard an Ethiopian airways flight will make a stopover in Adis Ababa en route to Angola, a team, a member of the team confirmed to Extrasportnigeria.wordpress.com while aboard the flight in Abuja.

D’Tigers are in Group B alongside Madagascar, Cameroon, and Tunisia. Their campaign starts with the game against Madagascar on the 13th before filing against eastside neighbours, Cameroon.

The Tigers will be aiming for their second continental trophy when the jump ball is taken in the Southern African country. D’Tigers only title came in 2015 in Abidjan where the Nigeria’s women’s team, D’Tigress just won their fifth-straight title. D’Tigers were runners up in 1997, 1999 and 2005.
