CAF Confederation Cup: Abia Warriors, Kwara United handed tough draws

Nigeria’s representatives in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup, Abia Warriors and Kwara United have been handed tricky draws in the preliminary round of the competition. The draw was made by the Confederation of African Football Saturday afternoon in Tanzania.

Abia Warriors, who are making their maiden appearance in the African competition, have been drawn to face Malian club, Djoliba in the first preliminary round.

The winner will face either Burkina Faso’s USFA or Togo’s AS Gbohloe-su in the second preliminary round.

The Abia Warriors may seem a fair deal when compared to that of the President Federation Cup winners Kwara United who are up against Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko in the first preliminary round.

The winner of this fixture will then meet Wydad Casablanca in the next round.

Abia Warriors will host the Djoliba first before the trip to Mali while Kwara United will start with a visit to the home of Asante Kotoko.

The preliminary round will kick-off in September.

The first preliminary round ties will be played on the weekends of September 19–21 and September 26–28, for the first and second legs, respectively. Afterwards, the second preliminary round ties would take place on the weekends of October 17–19 and October 24–26.
