Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Remo Stars have been drawn against US Zilimadjou of the Comoros Island in the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
Rivers United will also face the yet-to-be-named top-ranked club from the Democratic Republic of Congo, following the draw held at the Azam Media Studios in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, on Saturday.
Remo Stars will host US Zilimadjou at their Ikenne stadium, before travelling to Comoros for the second leg.
Rivers United will go the opposite way travelling first to DR Congo for the first leg. Congo’s premier domestic league is still to be completed due to the war in the zone.
The Pride of Rivers will face either AC Leopard of Congo or Black Bulls of Mozambique in the second round, while Remo Stars have the big challenge against Mamelodi Sundowns, South Africa currently rated the number two club on the continent in the CAF Club ranking just released this week.
