EPL: Bassey, Iwobi grab late point with Fulham

●Man City starts with a spectacular 4-0 win

Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey kicked off their 2025/26 Premier League campaign in Fulham colours with a last minute 1-1 draw away at Brighton. Rodrigo Muniz equalized for the guests in added time even as the centre referee was checking his watch for the final whistle.

Fulham looked set for defeat but were able snatch a point in the dying moments, to save the Super Eagles duo the blushes. Both players were in the starting lineup.

Bassey played as a left-back in his first game of the season and was on for the full 90 minutes on Fulham’s Day One this season. However, his afternoon was far from smooth. He was however, booked inside the opening half-hour.

Iwobi, as usual played in the midfield completing 18 of 24 passes. He was replaced by Adama Traoré after 66 minutes, though.

Elsewhere, former league champions, Manchester City made their intention to fight for the trophy very clear.  They were guests to Wolverhampton Wanderers but were very much at home winning their opening match by 4-0. It was the biggest win of the day. Erling Haaland scored two of the goals to kick off the race for the highest goal scorer for the 2025/26 season from Day One.
