The Edo State Sports Commission Chairman, Amadin Desmond Enabulele has approved a free haircut programme for all the Edo State athletes heading to Asaba for the National Youth Games. The freebie is also extended to “every other persons around the stadium on the eve of their departure on Monday, 25th August 2025.”
The programme is billed to start from 9am to 5pm at the Car Park of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
This service which is provided by God’s Vision Soul Winning Foundation through a Board Member of the Edo State Rugby Association in conjunction with the Edo State Sports Commission is meant to “give our athletes a good and smart look as we go out to represent the state.”
Dr (Evangelist) Christabel Oboh, added, “Normally the athletes go for a haircut to look good when travelling out for any games. The programme was initially meant for the Rugby Team and its sister Cricket Teams who are based at Adolor Grounds, but we decided to extend it to benefit all Athletes, Coaches and Staffs of the Edo State Sports Commission towards the National Youth Games.”
The Programme can carter for over 1500 persons in a day and it has been running in Benin City for a while now under the auspices of God’s Vision Soul Winning Foundation owned by Christabel Oboh who is a Board member of the Edo State Rugby Association.
Christabel says, “This is my own little contribution to our darling Rugby teams and in extension to the entire Edo State contingent to the 9th edition of the National Youth Games coming up in Asaba, the Delta State capital from Tuesday 26th August to Saturday 6th September 2025.
“We are highly honored and sincerely appreciate the Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission for the prompt approval given for these youths to benefit from our free haircut service which has been ongoing for over 6 years in Edo State. We are very happy that our little contribution to the Edo State team is appreciated. It gives us encouragement to look forward to future partnership in other games. The Free Haircut Programme is not only for the boys. The ladies do also look trendy and beautiful with low cut especially the U15 age category and it is less expensive to maintain.
”We hope that it will make our Contingent look more presentable and younger looking for the games and at no costs to the athletes.”
