Arokodare and Chrisantus Uche make EPL debuts

Super Eagles players Chrisantus Uche and Tolu Arokodare made their Premier League debuts on Saturday as the major leagues across the globe resumed after the FIFA break for the World Cup qualifiers.

Arokodare joined Wolverhampton Wanderers last month after a quality career with KRC Genk in Belgium. He made the start in Wolves’ 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.

The striker who scored for Nigeria last weekend against Rwanda was substituted in the 66th minute for Colombian midfielder Jhon Arias.

At Selhurst Park, Uche, a late signing for Crystal Palace at the end of the transfer window, was introduced in the 84th minute to replace fellow new arrival Yeremy Pino.

The Nigerian and his teammates ended the weekend with a goalless game against returnee team Sunderland.

Another Nigerian just getting into the Premier League from AC Milan, Samuel Chukwueze was left out of Fulham’s matchday. Fulham won the game against Leeds 1-0.
