Remo Stars slow start to the season continued on Sunday as the defending champions of the Nigerian league fell 2-0 to Plateau United in Jos. Experts of the Nigeria Professional Football League were certain that Remo could leave the city with a draw or even a league.
Nasarawa continued with their impressive start to the 2025/26 Nigeria campaign with 1-0 home win over the League’s returnees, Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi on match-day four clash at the Lafia City Stadium on Sunday evening.
Youngster, Garba Mohammed, grabbed the solitary goal for the Lafia-based Nasarawa United in the 37th minute of the intense tie, making it a back-to-back home win for the side who are now tied on 7th points and same goal on the NPFL log with their visitors.
The Solid Miners will hope to carry the same momentum when they travel to Yenagoa to face Bayelsa United who lost 2-0 at home to Enyimba, on match-day five, next weekend, before returning a week later(Sunday, 28th September) to host another Northern team, Katsina United in Lafia, on match-day six
The Nasarawa United versus Wikki Tourists’ match was watched by the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Alhassan, Aide to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Sports Affairs, Comrade Hamza Ibrahim Moyi, State Football Association’s Chairman, Salisu Galadima, alongside large fans and spectators, with Chairman of Nasarawa United, Mr. Solomon Babanjah, playing host to the dignitaries.
