NPFL: Kwara United eager to beat Plateau United and regain confidence

Kwara United will face Plateau United on Thursday in a rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 5 clash at the George Innih Stadium, Ilorin.

The Harmony Boys, who recently bowed out of the CAF Confederation Cup, have vowed to redeem their image on the domestic front and compensate their loyal supporters for the disappointment of their continental exit. Their determination was evident as the team resumed training the very next day after returning from Abeokuta.

Close watchers of their camp say preparations have been intense, with both coaches and players working hard to ensure maximum points in back-to-back fixtures against Plateau United and Abia Warriors.

Injury concerns mean Bright Babatunde and Saheed Olaniyi are unavailable, while Wasiu Jimoh Teku returns to the squad. Coach Tunde Sanni is expected to make changes to his starting XI, with goalkeeper Nurudeen Badmus tipped to start.

Last season, Kwara picked up four points against Plateau United, winning in Ilorin and forcing a draw in Jos. This term, Plateau United have six points from five matches, while Kwara United have managed five points from four games.

Coach Sanni insists the painful CAF exit is a temporary setback, and a chance to re-strategize and improve as the NPFL campaign progresses.

The Rashidi Yekini Main bowl of the George Innih Stadium is expected to come alive on Thursday, with kickoff scheduled for 4:00 PM for the game that promises to be a thrilling encounter.
