The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced a two-week total and comprehensive warning strike affecting all public universities in Nigeria.
The ASUU National President, Prof. Chris Piwuna, made the announcement on Sunday at the University of Abuja during a press briefing.
Piwuna read to the media, “Compatriots of the press, it goes without saying that there is nothing sufficient on ground to stop the implementation of the ASUU-NEC’s resolution to embark on a two-week warning strike at the expiry of the 14-day notice given on the 28th of September, 2025.”
He said that all ASUU branches have been instructed to suspend academic activities and withdraw their services beginning midnight of Monday, October 13, 2025.
He added that the action will be “total and comprehensive” as resolved at the union’s last National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.
The strike is a part of the academic union’s continued push for the Federal Government to address outstanding issues related to university funding, staff welfare, and other pending agreements. Some of these agreements have been pending for years.
