CAFCL: Rivers United in Group A with champions, Pyramids, Berkane

Nigeria’s representative in the 2025/26 CAF Champions League, Rivers United, have been drawn against defending champions Pyramids in the group stage of the Confederation of African Football’s competition.

The draw conducted on Monday afternoon at the SuperSport Studios in Johannesburg, South Africa, fixed Rivers United, who are in the group stage of the competition for the first time, in Group A also with CAF Confederation Cup champions RS Berkane of Morocco and then new comers, Power Dynamos of Zambia.

This group is rated as quite a tough mix.

Rivers United, who defeated Mozambican side Black Bulls to reach this stage will be praying for a good run in Africa’s premier competition. Nigeria’s other representatives at the preliminary stage, Remo Stars were booted out of the event by South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns.

By the details of the CAF design for the competition, only the first two group stage games will be played before the competition goes on break until 2026 to make room for the Africa Cup of Nations in December.
