Brighton’s Nnadozie listed for WSL Save-of-the-Month

Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has been shortlisted for the Barclays Women’s Super League (WSL) Save-of-the-Month award for November. This follows her impressive performance for Brighton & Hove Albion in the league.

Nnadozie, who is in her first season in the English League got the nomination for a stunning first-half save in Brighton’s 1-1 away draw against Liverpool.

In the available video, Nnadozie who just won the African Best Goalkeeper award for the straight third time on Wednesday, reacted spectacularly to deny Japanese midfielder Fūka Nagano’s powerful long-range strike. The crucial save helped Brighton secure a point in that game.

The Nigerian goalkeeper is largely in competition with Liverpool’s Faye Kirby, who also delivered key saves in the same fixture to help her team avoid defeat. The other nominees include Manchester City’s Ayaka Yamashita and Aston Villa’s Sabrina D’Angelo.

Nnadozie has been consistent over the last four years. Her good form played a huge role in Nigeria’s triumph at the last WAFCON in Morocco, where the Super Falcons won their historic tenth title. Her performance earned her the continent’s best goalkeeper award.
