The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has explained why he stopped employing ladies as his secretaries.
Adeboye said he took the decision to avoid situations that could lead him into temptation after relocating to the church’s campground.
The GO who spoke at the church’s annual programme at the Redemption Camp along Lagos-Ibadan expressway, said he opted against ladies as secretaries because he wanted personal discipline and needed to set firm boundaries because he worked late nights due to his pastoral duties.
He said at the programme which is still ongoing, “From the moment I got to this campground; from the moment I got to a stage where at night I still have to work; I ceased to have a female secretary, some people thought it was gender discrimination.
“I know myself. I know who I was before Jesus saved my soul. I know the possibility of dangers, being left alone at night with the opposite sex.”
Despite this, Adeboye spoke warmly about his former secretary at the Ebute-Metta church which serves as the national headquarters. He described her as “a committed believer” and noting that her conduct remained exemplary.
