QUESTIONS continue to swirl after police found a mom of two dead in a Dollar Store freezer under mysterious circumstances.
A death investigation is underway after Massiell Garay Sanchez, a 32-year-old doctor, was discovered naked and unresponsive by workers on Sunday morning.
Garay was found by employees in the Miami, Florida, store on Sunday morning at around 8am.
She entered the store but didn’t buy anything the night before she was found, the Miami-Dade Police Department said, according to WPLG.
Police believe that she walked into the employees-only area where the freezer is located and never came out.
Eerie police scanner audio captures the moment first responders described the horror scene.
“Complainant found a naked female in the cooler of the store,” dispatchers said, according to CBS News.
“I’m also advised by the staff that they don’t recognize her as well.”
Cops are investigating the incident as an unclassified death, and are looking into whether Garay had been dealing with any personal or mental health issues.
A GoFundMe dedicated to Garay said she died of a “tragic accident while abroad.”
The fundraiser is raising money to repatriate Garay’s body and host a funeral in Nicaragua, where she was originally from.
The page describes Garay as an anesthesiologist specializing in congenital heart disease, whose work brought “hope and healing to countless children and families.”
Family members of Garay were seen outside the Dollar Tree on Sunday waiting for answers from detectives, WPLG reported.
“Her strength, warmth, and unwavering love for her family will always be remembered,” the page said.
