Cote d’Ivoire and Cameroon finished in a 1-1 draw in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations clash on Sunday night in Marrakesh, Morocco.
Both teams came into the clash on the back of opening day wins, as Cameroon defeated Gabon 1-0 while Cote d’Ivoire defeated Mozambique by the same score line, thanks to Amad Diallo’s solitary goal.
The game was played at a lively pace from the onset, with both nations showing intent to go out and get the early goal.
The Indomitable Lions were very close to breaking the deadlock after 20 minutes when Christian Kofane got on the end of a cross in the box, but ended up cracking the crossbar with goalkeeper Yahia Fofana well beaten on the line.
Cote d’Ivoire, however, opened the scoring seven minutes after the halftime break as Amad made it two goals in two games at the tournament with a lovely curling effort from the edge of the box.
Cameroon weren’t behind for too long as Junior Tchamadeu brought his side level on 56 minutes by collecting a pass from Kofane before unleashing a strike from the edge of the box that took a big deflection and sailed over goalkeeper Yahia Fofana.
Cote d’Ivoire coach Emerse Fae made a double change with 20 minutes left on the clock as Evann Guessand and Christ Inao Oulai were introduced in place of Bayo and Seko Fofana.
Despite the changes, neither side was able to find the all-important winning goal. Both teams can only qualify for the knockout stage in their final Group F games.
