There has been an upward demand for the Nigeria jersey following the Super Eagles’ performance at the ongoing AFCON.
Honourable Idris Abdullahi Musa, Chairman of the Kwara FA, made this revelation while speaking with Tayo Adeyemo of Wonderland Sports. Musa said Moroccans have been buying the Nigerian jersey following the impressive performance of the Eric Chelle-led side.
He commended the North Africans for the hospitality being shown to visitors, especially Nigerians, during the AFCON.
“Anywhere we go, they keep asking for a Nigeria jersey, they are offering money to get it, some even ask for Okocha, Oliseh, Osimhen, Lookman, etc. How I wish we had a sports shop selling Nigeria jersey here.
“The people here are very friendly and highly accommodating; they have received us warmly and is a delight to be in Morocco.”
The Kwara FA boss is thrilled with the facilities and infrastructure seen so far in Morocco.
“They have provided world-class facilities; no city without training facilities, you can see gym equipment everywhere, and they are begging people to come and experience it for free, regardless of who you are.”
Musa wants to see total improvement in Nigeria’s sports facilities.
“To be frank with you, we have similar facilities, but we lack a maintenance culture. Abuja and Lagos National Stadium were world-class when they were constructed then, and they can retain their original phase if well maintained.”
The Kwara boss said the association will organize series of competitions in 2026.
These include the state league and the Governor’s Cup, both male and female.
The Usman Mustapha Cup for under-20 males is part of the FA programme and other grassroots programmes.
