Super Eagles’ Akor Adams celebrated his first Africa Cup of Nations goal as Nigeria drilled Mozambique 4-0 on Monday night to book a place in the quarter-finals in Morocco.
The Super Eagles dominated virtually every minute at the Complexe Sportif de Fès, with Adams playing a key role in the victory and, of course, sealing his performance with the high velocity goal.
Adams afterwards expressed gratitude and shared a personal dedication of that lovely goal.
He said, “First, glory to God for the privilege to have my first Afcon goal like all of you have been waiting for. But the goal is dedicated to my mom.”
He explained the circumstances surrounding his mother’s absence.
“She’s supposed to be here, but she’s in the hospital right now. She was admitted this morning, but she’s much better now. I’m happy for the team.”
Adams also spoke on the incident during the Monday night match involving Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, which is still being discussed by those who watched the game.
“Victor had a fantastic game. Lookman had a fantastic game. So, we came out with the victory, and we’re happy.”
The Super Eagles now await the winner of the Algeria versus DR Congo quarter-final clash in Marrakech, aiming to build on their flawless start in Morocco.
