Ron Kenoly, an American Christian worship leader, singer, and songwriter, and indeed a legend, has passed away at the age of 81.
The celebrated gospel singer died on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. Many singers and artists across all fields have mourned his passing on social media.
Nigerian gospel singer and Minister of the Gospel, Nathaniel Bassey, praised Kenoly and called him a role model for future generations.
He wrote on his Instagram page, “Dr Ron Kenoly crosses to yonder side. Thank you for inspiring generations of psalmists like me. I grew up on these songs, and today, others are growing up on ours. Thank you, sir.”
The Christian and Gospel community across the world is mourning the passing of the Gospel legend, whose ministry shaped generations around the world.
During his career, Ron was nominated for nine GMA Dove Awards and won Praise & Worship Album of the Year for Welcome Home in 1997.
Known for timeless anthems such as “Ancient of Days,” “Let There Be Praise”, “Whose Report Shall We Believe”, “Jesus Is Alive”, and “Lift Him Up”, his songs became staples of congregational worship at churches around the world.
