The African Olympic Committee Finance Director, Dr. Jonathan Dyagas, has been turbaned as the Njet Gwong (Star of Gwong Chiefdom) by the Kpop Gwong (Sarkin Kagoma). The ceremony took place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, in Fadan Kagoma, Jemaa Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The prestigious traditional title recognizes his wisdom, integrity, and contributions to national development.
The palace statement signed by the Chief of Staff, SB Kure (Majidadin Gwong), noted that the event was attended by dignitaries, including, members of the National and State Assemblies, members of the African Olympic Committee, Nigerian Olympic Committee, Local Government Chairmen, the Sa’in Zazzau, and nine traditional rulers from Zone III, the Vice President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, captains of industry, serving and retired members of the Nigerian armed forces and paramilitary, politicians, religious leaders, and others.
The title bestowed on Dyagas “signifies a high level of confidence in his leadership and commitment to the community and Nigeria at large.”
The majority of those who attended the event congratulated Dyagas, highlighting “his humility, statesmanship, and dedication to humanity.”
Dignitaries present described the newest Njet Gwong as a bridge-builder, philanthropist, and patriot whose contributions to peace and progress are noteworthy.
The title placed on Dyagas attracted the presence of more than thirteen cultural troupes, singers, and comedians, all aiming to strengthen the cultural heritage and unity of the Gwong people.
