Amuludun Kitchen has donated official jerseys to Wonderland Events for the Lagos Grassroots Cup Final, formerly known as the Abesan Youth Cup, in a renewed push to strengthen youth development through sports.
The presentation ceremony took place at the Amuludun Kitchen facility and drew key stakeholders from the Abesan Community.
Present at the event were Elder Sina Dare, President of Abesan Estate; Mr Ayo Durojaiye, Abesan Youth President; Madam Rinu, Chief Executive Officer of Amuludun Kitchen; Mr Tayo Adeyemo, of Wonderland Events, organisers of the tournament; and some of the participating teams.
Speaking at the ceremony, President of Abesan Estate Residents’ Association (AERA), Sina Dare, commended Madam Rinu Amuludun for her consistent contributions to youth empowerment and sports development within Abesan Estate.
He described the jersey donation as a strong demonstration of corporate social responsibility and community commitment.
“Youth sports play a vital role in shaping discipline, unity, and leadership among our young people,” Dare said.
“We deeply appreciate Madam Rinu and Amuludun Kitchen for standing with the youths of Abesan. This support will go a long way in sustaining grassroots football and keeping our youths positively engaged.”
Dare also lauded Tayo Adeyemo of Wonderland Events for his sustained involvement in youth-oriented initiatives across the estate, noting that his efforts in sports organisation and talent development have been impactful.
In a major announcement, the Abesan Estate president revealed plans to collaborate with Wonderland Events and Amuludun Kitchen to launch the Abesan Estate Inter-sector Games, a multi-sport competition aimed at fostering unity and healthy competition among the estate’s sectors.
Reacting, Tayo Adeyemo expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to youth sports development. He disclosed that the grand finale of the Lagos Grassroots Cup will hold on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the Abesan Youth Centre.
“This tournament is more than football; it is about giving young people a platform to grow, express themselves, and dream bigger,” Adeyemo said.
“We are fully committed to partnering with community leaders and organisations to ensure that sports continue to thrive at the grassroots level in Abesan.
“Most of Nigeria’s football legends emerged from informal and community-based competitions. When private organisations support grassroots tournaments, they are not just sponsoring events; they are building pathways for talent identification, crime reduction, and community cohesion.”
Madam Rinu Amuludun, while presenting the jerseys, noted that Amuludun Kitchen’s support for the tournament aligns with its broader vision of giving back to the community, particularly in initiatives that promote youth development, unity, and social inclusion.
“Amuludun kitchen is ready to support programmes that promote community bonding, especially the one that has to do with Nigerian youths. We believe so much in our youths and we must continue to encourage them to attain success.
Also speaking at the event, Abesan Youth President, Mr Ayo Durojaiye, lauded the partnership, noting “Grassroots sports provide structure, mentorship and a sense of belonging for young people,” he explained. “Partnerships between community leaders, event organisers and local businesses, as seen here today, are models that should be replicated across Lagos and beyond.”
As anticipation builds toward the February 11 final, stakeholders say the jersey presentation symbolizes more than sporting support—it reflects a growing collective commitment to empowering youths and strengthening community bonds through sports.
The Lagos Grassroots Cup Final comes up between Rainbow FA and BUnited from 4pm. Godly FC will lock horns with Agege Warriors at 3pm for the third-place match.
