The New York Knicks earned more hardware Saturday night, taking home the NBA Shooting Stars challenge.
This year’s format featured two current NBA players along with one NBA “Legend”.
The current Knicks players were Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns. Nine-year Knick and former two-time All-Star Allan Houston joined the team as its legend and final member, The Sporting News reports.
New York got off to a hot start, posting the highest total in round one to earn a spot in the finals against Team Cameron. Team Cameron consisted of Atlanta Hawks star Jalen Johnson, Charlotte’s sharpshooter Kon Knueppel, and former Los Angeles Clipper Corey Maggette.
Other participants that were knocked out in the first round included: Team Harper, made up of Ron Harper, Dylan Harper, and Ron Harper Jr., and Team All-Star, which consisted of Scottie Barnes, Chet Holmgren, and former Detroit Pistons Richard Hamilton.
Despite a solid showing from Team Cameron in the final round, it was ultimately the Knicks who took home the trophy. Karl-Anthony Towns hit some clutch shots as time wound down, but it was ultimately Allan Houston who buried a long-range three-pointer to clinch the crown.
This marks New York’s second title of the season, having defeated the San Antonio Spurs earlier in the year to capture the NBA In-Season Tournament.
Both Towns and Brunson will be competing in Sunday’s All-Star game; the two will play for different teams.
