Super Eagles goalkeeper Amas Obasogie has been suspended for three months by Tanzanian club Singida Black Stars SC pending investigation into allegations of match-fixing, the club announced on Friday.

Obasogie was a part of Nigeria’s squad that finished third at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which ended in January in Morocco. The Nigerian featured for Singida Black Stars in a 1–1 league match draw against Namungo just a day before the suspension was confirmed.

An official statement issued by the CEO’s Office and shared on the club’s X (Twitter) handle detailed that the club’s Disciplinary Committee also suspended midfielder Khalid Aucho for three months over indiscipline and absenteeism from work.

In the official notice, the club stated:

The management of Singida Black Stars SC, through its Disciplinary Committee, has taken disciplinary action against players Khalid Aucho and Amas Obasogie as follows:

1. Khalid Aucho: Has been sanctioned for indiscipline and absenteeism from work and has therefore been suspended from duty for three months.

2. Amas Obasogie: Has been suspended from duty for three months pending investigation into allegations of match-fixing.”

The club reminds all its players and staff to adhere to discipline, accountability, and respect for the club.

Issued by the Office of the Chief Executive Officer

Singida Black Stars SC.

The club did not provide further details about the specific match or the nature of the allegations against Obasogie.

Obasogie joined Singida Black Stars in recent seasons and has been a regular between the posts in the Tanzanian Premier League.

The match-fixing allegations are yet to be substantiated publicly, and no formal charges or detailed evidence have been released by the club or Tanzanian football authorities.

The club stated that the suspension is precautionary, allowing time for a full investigation.
