The Extraordinary Assembly of the Nigeria Football Federation, held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, has approved an amendment to the Federation’s statutes. The Assembly also picked September 26 for the NFF Board Elective Congress.
The Communique from the gathering in Yenagoa reads in part, “The Congress, voting on proposals by the Executive Committee, unanimously approved the amendments to the NFF Statutes (March 2026 Edition), the NFF Electoral Code and the Standing Orders of the General Assembly, as presented.”
Apart from the amendments to the statutes, the Bayelsa State outing on Monday, March 23, also approved and announced Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, and the venue for the Elective Congress billed for September.
“The Congress approved a proposal by the Executive Committee for the staging of the 2026 Elective Congress of the Nigeria Football Federation in Lafia, Nasarawa State on Saturday, 26th September 2026.”
A new Independent Auditor has been announced for the NFF.
The Communique added, “Voting on a proposal by the Executive Committee, the Congress unanimously approved the appointment of Messrs. Ernst & Young (EY) as the new Independent Auditor of the Nigeria Football Federation. This followed a rigorous process of selection that involved a total of seven (7) firms, which made presentations to the committee that was saddled with the task. Consistent with Federal Government regulations and provisions of the NFF Statutes, the company will serve a first term of four (4) years. Congress praised PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) for its 9-year meritorious service to the NFF in this regard.”
