UK reviews visa, residency, citizenship fees: Full list of new fees for Nigerians, others

The United Kingdom is set to raise fees for a wide range of items, including visas, residency, and citizenship applications. This will take effect from April 8, 2026.

The revised fee schedule, published by the UK Home Office, affects nearly all categories of applications made both inside and outside the UK, including visit visas, student visas, work visas, settlement, and naturalisation.

Nigerians, who constitute one of the largest groups of UK visa applicants, will be significantly impacted by the changes.

Key increases in cost:

●Short-term visit visa (up to 6 months): from £127 to £135

●Student visa: from £524 to £558

●Indefinite leave to remain: from £3,029 to £3,226

●Naturalisation as a British citizen: from £1,605 to £1,709

The fee hikes are expected to increase the cost of visa applications for individuals, families, and businesses planning to visit, study, work, or settle in the UK.
