Rangers International of Enugu have proved once again their quality and determination as a team, and are now closing in on winning their second league title in three years.
The Flying Antelopes, who will play host to Bendel Insurance this Sunday in a Matchday 37 encounter at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, have the opportunity to move towards achieving their main aim of the season. They need to grab the maximum points against Insurance with just a game left to play after this weekend’s matches in the NPFL.
Under the leadership of the General Manager, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku, the coach has built a solid team with many young players who have proved once more to be among the best players in the league. Central defender Chidozie Iwundu has scored more than any other defender in the NPFL this season (10 goals). The likes of Godwin Obaje, Emmanuel Essien, Wisdom Ebirim, and Chidiebere Nwobodo have played a huge role for the team as they leave the title hopes in their own hands to be decided.
Their massive 2-0 away victory over Bayelsa United last Sunday in Yenagoa in a matchday 36 clash, has put Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side in a well-placed advantage heading into this weekend’s home clash against Insurance. Second-placed Rivers United will take on Wikki Tourists away in Bauchi as the title decider heads into the final closing hours of the season.
