Iwobi ‘wears’ 100th cap for Nigeria

The Portugal versus Nigeria friendly match in Leira provided a very good atmosphere to honour one of Nigeria’s longest serving players in the Super Eagles squad, Alexander Iwobi. Getting to the 100th is such a great feat for any player.

And just before the kick-off, Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, and NFF Executive Committee member Sharif Rabiu Inuwa presented a special framed shirt to midfielder Iwobi to mark the occasion of his 100th appearance for the Super Eagles.

Despite the 2-1 loss to Portugal, the game provided a memorable personal milestone for Iwobi, becoming only the fourth Nigerian player to reach the Century mark in international football. He joins the likes of Joseph Yobo, Vincent Enyeama, and Ahmed Musa.
