Three-time winners El-Kanemi Warriors have advanced to the President Federation Cup final, after they beat Bauchi-based side, Wikki Tourists 3-1, in the semi-finals on Wednesday. The game was played at the Mohammed Dikko Stadium, Katsina.
Bashir Musa broke the deadlock inside 15 minutes, with a brilliant finish outside the box to give El-Kanemi Warriors the lead. Before Daddy Abdulrahman doubled the lead 2-0, five minutes later with a solo finish.
It became to look more easier for the already relegated NPFL side, when Muktar Ismail all but secure their spot in the final when he struck home a delightful long-range effort to make it 3-0, as El-Kanemi Warriors went into the half time break with three goals advantage.
In the second half, Wikki Tourists scored a consolation goal to reduce the deficit to 3-1 with five minutes left to play in the game but it didn’t change anything as the Maiduguri based side secure a place in the 2026 President Federation Cup final.
In other semi-finals clash, Ikorodu City also booked their place in the final, after they defeated Nasarawa United 4-2 on penalties. Following the game ended in a 1-1, in the regulation time.
Benin City’s Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium again proved the hoodoo for Nasarawa United, as they lost 2-4 after penalty shootout after both teams had been stalemated at 1-1 in regulation time.
Five years ago, Nasarawa United and Bayelsa United battled to a 2-2 draw in that year’s Final, before the latter prevailed 5-4 on penalties against the ‘Solid Miners’.
The Oga Boys will now take on El-Kanemi Warriors in the final, at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, next Saturday, June 27th, 2026.
