Plateau United Technical Adviser, Gbenga Ogunbote, is on the verge of extending his contract at the club ahead of the 2026/27 football season.
The former Sunshine Stars, Lobi Stars, and Shooting Stars gaffer, who played a vital role and helped the Jos-based side to survive the relegation battles, and finished the season on a high note. Following their woeful start in the first stanza of the season, before he came in and changed their season in a great fashion.
It is said that the club’s hierarchy is happy with the progress of the team under Ogunbote and has decided to activate an extension to his contract for one more year.
Ogunbote was brought in last season when the team was struggling during the first stanza and rescued their season, and also led them to the Quarter-Finals of the 2026 President’s Federation Cup.
Plateau United ended the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season in the top half of the log, but will be hoping to continue on their rise under Ogunbote, with a one-year extension as the club hopes to make a great run with the top teams ahead of the 2026/27 NPFL season.
