Tojemarine extends unbeaten run as Flowers, Niger United Shine on Day Three

Hosts Tojemarine Handball Club continued their impressive run at the 2026 Tojemarine International Invitational Handball Championship with a dominant 28-16 victory over Delta Force on Day Three of the competition in the male category at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Institute for Sports, Surulere, Lagos.

The hosts raced to a commanding 16-6 halftime lead before sealing their second consecutive win to remain top of Group A in the men’s category, while former Nigeria champion Niger United underlined their title credentials with a convincing 37-26 win over Kalibi Handball Club of Ghana.

Niger United led 15-12 at halftime before pulling away in the second half to maintain their unbeaten record and sit atop Group B with four points and an impressive goal difference of +25.

In the women’s category, Seasider Babes of Lagos bounced back with a 27-21 victory over Kalibi after taking a 14-10 halftime advantage.

Flowers of the Benin Republic continued their perfect start to the championship with a 36-25 triumph over Kalibi, while ASPAC of the Benin Republic defeated Seaside Babes 24-20 after leading 12-8 at the interval.

Flowers remain top of the women’s standings with four points and a superior goal difference of +16, narrowly ahead of SOOF, who also have four points from two matches.

The championship continues on Sunday, July 19, with five exciting fixtures on the cards.

The day’s action will begin at 9:00 a.m. with an intriguing Group B men’s clash between Niger United and ASPAC of the Benin Republic. Both sides have made winning starts to their campaigns and will be looking to strengthen their semifinal ambitions.

At 11:00am, Bayelsa Waves will take on Kalibi Handball Club in another Group B encounter, with both teams eager to secure their first points of the tournament.

In Group A of the men’s category, Energie of the Benin Republic will battle Delta Force at 1:00 p.m. as both sides seek to revive their campaigns after suffering defeats in their opening matches.

The women’s category returns at 3:00pm. When Seaside Babes face unbeaten Flowers of Benin Republic in a crucial fixture that could shape the standings.

The final match of the day at 5:00 p.m. will see SOOF take on Kalibi, with the Nigerian side aiming to preserve their unbeaten record and edge closer to a place in the knockout stage.
