Recall that the late Senator Ifeanyi ‘Ebubechukwu Uzo ‘ served as the Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association from 2016 to 2020.

His emergence as Chairman of ANSFA sparked a chain of positive developments in the football sector of the state. First, he launched the famous ‘One Family, One Footballer’, an initiative that was launched both in Nigeria and Russia during the 2018 World Cup with the FIFA President, Gianni Infantino in attendance.

In August 2016, the late Senator Ubah made history when he signed a landmark partnership deal with Premiership side, West Ham United, a deal he described as one to bring a massive turnaround for his club, Nigerian football and African football by extension.

Ubah also masterminded his club to win the 2016 President Federation Cup following a 5-4 victory over Nasarawa United at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.  The club went on to represent the country in the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup.

The business mogul died on 27 July, 2024, and as part of activities marking his second memorial, the Chikelue Iloenyosi-led ANSFA board has concluded arrangements to organise a Novelty football match in memory of the late Capital Oil and Gas boss.
