Nigeria Police latch on to the success of quarter-miler Nathaniel to help clean up their battered image

The Inspector General of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Olatunji Disu, has congratulated Corporal Ezekiel Nathaniel following his remarkable achievement at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
Nathaniel made the Nigerian nation proud after winning the gold medal in the men’s 400m hurdles on Friday night.
He delivered a brilliant performance that earned Nigeria one of its most celebrated victories at the Games.
Reacting to the victory, IGP Disu said Nathaniel’s accomplishment represents a new chapter for police officers who combine public service with excellence in sports.
He noted that the feat would inspire other officers and young athletes across the country to pursue greatness.
Disu said: “On behalf of the Nigeria Police Force, I congratulate Corporal Ezekiel Nathaniel on his historic gold medal win in the 400m hurdles at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
