Abia Warriors have suspended Technical Advisor Imama Amapakabo and Chief Coach Bethel Oji from all club activities with immediate effect over alleged “acts of insubordination.”
An official letter dated May 11, 2026, and signed by club chairman John Sam Obuh, stated that the suspension followed incidents that reportedly occurred during the FA Cup semi-final clash against Ahudiyannem FC and the league match against Kun Khalifat of Owerri.
The club management stated that despite several directives and advice concerning team line-up adjustments in both matches, the coaching crew allegedly ignored the instructions, leading to defeats that “brought embarrassment to the club and the entire state.”
Abia Warriors further confirmed that both officials will remain suspended pending the conclusion of investigations into the matter.
The statement also revealed that former Super Eagles goalkeeper Ike Shorunmu and his assistants have been directed to immediately take charge of the team’s management and operations until further notice.
