By Emmanuel Chinedu

The General Manager of Rangers FC, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku, has confirmed that head Coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu, will remain in charge of the club for the 2026/27 football season, despite his own future with the NPFL Champions being uncertain.

Amobi, while speaking with Journalists at the club headquarters on Friday, June 5, 2026 in Enugu he addressed the report surrounding the club’s technical crew, but he assured the supporters that Ilechukwu would continue his role as the club’s head coach for next season.

“I assure you all that Ilechukwu remains our coach and will continue with Rangers International,” Amobi told reporters.

“Ilechukwu has proved once again why he is among the best coaches we have ever seen in the history of the NPFL. Winning two titles in three years is a difficult achievement. So why would you want someone like that to leave after what he achieved with the team this season?”

The General Manager further revealed that clarity on his position at the club would emerge within the next three weeks.

” I’m unsure about my availability as general manager, but I will officially confirm within the next 21 days.”

“I won’t be making a decision alone, I have a family, supporters, and have to think about my mental health. So I need time to clear my head, ” Amobi concludes.

Barrister Amobi since being appointed as the Club’s General Manager by the Enugu State Governor, Dr Peter Mbah in June  2023,  has led Rangers Int’l to two Nigeria Premier Football League titles in three years.
