Brighton’s first signing of the summer, Nigeria’s Zadok Yohanna, says he will “give everything” for the team and wants to win trophies with the club.
The Seagulls have agreed a £21.5m deal with AIK Stockholm to bring the 18-year-old winger to the Amex when the transfer window opens on June 15.
The Nigerian forward said he is “really happy because I know where I came from and I want to make my family proud”.
Yohanna told Brighton’s official website, “I will give everything I have for the team and I really want to win trophies.
He told the BBC, “I watch the Premier League a lot and I know the teams use young players, and Brighton is one of them. They are very good at developing young players.”
Yohanna’s story is a fairy tale type. A little more than a year ago, 18-year-old Yohanna Zadok was playing football in Kaduna as a talented member of Ikon Allah Football Academy. One chance opportunity and he landed in Europe.
This Brighton opportunity is surely a dream breakthrough.
“I’m looking forward to working with Zadok,” Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler told the BBC. “Having seen his games and his attributes, he is a player who can impact games in the final third.
“He’s still young, and will need time to adapt to the club and Premier League, but he’s an exciting player to watch, and he brings the kind of creativity we know our fans will enjoy.”
Zadok has five goals and four assists in 18 appearances for the Swedish club since his debut in August 2025.
Nigeria’s coach, Eric Chelle, is already with him as he crafts a new Super Eagles squad.
